Upon my arrival at A Joyous Occasion, a sales associate gave me a tour, pointing out key aspects of each designer and making suggestions geared towards what I told her about my taste. She was very knowledgeable not only about the designer that A Joyous Occasion offers, but about other designers as well. I enjoyed my experiences at A Joyous Occasion because the staff was friendly without being pushy and extremely knowledgeable. At one point, I asked the sales associate where I could go to try on dresses from a specific gown designer that is not carried in the store. Expecting her knowledge to end with the product she carries, I was delightfully surprised when she directed me towards Nashville, the closest place to find that designer. Her knowledge and helpfulness made this a great place to shop!

David’s Bridal has an excellent web site if you would rather shop from home to get an idea of what you like before going through the laborious fitting session, which can be daunting if you have to try on a range of things because don’t know have any idea what you want. This is the only retailer in Knoxville that offers a gown gallery directly on their website. Also, with David’s Bridal you can register and Dress Your Wedding dress, which is an application that allows you to build your own wedding party. It was just the inspiration I needed to choose what I wanted for my bridesmaids and groomsmen. This application gave me full freedom to change a variety of details: flower bouquets, shoes, boutonnieres, even the hair and skin color of the people.

White Lace & Promises was my favorite store due to their selection of destination gowns and the quality services they provided. The attention that they gave me was like that of a couture retailer, yet their prices were much easier on the wallet than some other dresses I had tried on at other stores. I was given a board full of plastic clothespin-like clasps, so that I could pin any dress I would like to try on. Then, the attendant would take each wedding dresses into the fitting room for me so that I was spared any heavy-lifting. This was great news for me because most of the dresses are much longer than I am and maneuvering them can be difficult at times.

Also, White Lace & Promises is moving! On June 1, 2009, the store will move to new location next to Toys R Us on Kingston Pike. Be sure to make it in the old store while it’s still around because they’re having a huge moving sale!
